Grensgangers

We hebben het niet door, maar Nederland bestaat eigenlijk niet meer uit provincies en gemeenten. Tegenwoordig wordt voor echt grote opgaven, zoals de energietransitie, klimaatcrisis en economische ontwikkeling, niet meer als eerste gekeken naar provincie- of gemeentehuizen. Nee, dergelijke vraagstukken worden vooral toegewezen aan de vele regio’s die Nederland rijk is.

‘Of course you will succeed warrior’

Good collaboration between professional foster parents (PFPs) and birth parents (BPs) is of great importance for the well-being of out-of-home placed youngsters in family-style group care. Previous studies have shown that WhatsApp has become an important medium in the professional communication between professional foster parents and birth parents as it offers the possibility to send movies and photos in addition to text. This research has identified two ways in which professional foster parents are closing WhatsApp conversations in a sensitive manner. Professional foster parents are setting boundaries by encouraging and making a reference to the future, often accompanied by emoji: (1) Encouragements are apparent in expressions that compliment, comfort and invite to ‘let it go’. (2) Professional foster parents make reference to the future in a wish, proposal or promise. Furthermore, the asymmetrical nature of the relationship becomes clear in the coaching role adopted by professional foster parents, and the observation that solely professional foster parents at times remain silent or do not respond in closing interactions. In short, sensitive boundary setting in closing sequences demonstrates how the institutional character of the relationship is embodied in the WhatsApp communication between professional foster parents and birth parents.

Het menselijke gezicht van de tijd

Afgelopen zomer was in museum Voorlinden de tentoonstelling It’s about time te bezichtigen. De plek, het lommerrijke landgoed nabij Wassenaar, doet je even alle tijd vergeten. Verleden en toekomst lopen er fraai door elkaar heen, met enerzijds het historische landhuis en anderzijds het modernistische museumgebouw. De tentoonstelling zelf zet de bezoeker echter weer met beide benen op de grond en confronteert je met de verstrijkende tijd.

Heeft meedoen zin?

Verspreid over Nederland zijn de afgelopen decennia allerlei nieuwe christelijke pioniersinitiatieven ontstaan. In dit onderzoek is onderzocht wat deze initiatieven betekenen voor hun deelnemers, waar deze betekenis volgens hen vooral mee samenhangt en wat hieruit geleerd kan worden voor het communiceren van het evangelie binnen de Nederlandse samenleving op een manier die gevoelig is voor de heden daagse context.

Letting people flourish

Background: The concept of “positive health” emerged from the need for a holistic and more dynamic perspective on health, emphasising the ability of individuals to adapt and self-manage. The positive health conversation tool helps understand how people score on six positive health dimensions. However, skills within these dimensions to maintain or improve health have not yet been described. This is important for enabling individuals to put health advice into practise. Therefore, this paper aims to define and suggest skills for maintaining and improving positive health.Subsections: Suggestions for definitions of skills within the positive health dimensions are described using the functional, interactive, and critical health literacy framework. Additionally, executive functions and life skills were incorporated. Moreover, the environment's role in these individual skills was noted, mentioning organisational health literacy that emphasises organisations' responsibility to provide comprehensible health information to all individuals. We propose that health promotion interventions can incorporate the proposed skills in practical exercises while aligning intervention materials and implementation tools with end-users and implementers.Discussion and conclusion: The suggested skills for maintaining and improving positive health are a first step towards a more comprehensive understanding and open to discussion. These skills may also be applied to other practical conversation tools for maintaining or improving health. Increasing positive health through the defined skills may be especially relevant to those with a lower socioeconomic position who also have limited health literacy and thereby may contribute to reducing health inequalities. Taken together, strengthening the defined skills may hopefully contribute to allowing people to flourish in life.

Zoeken naar de dingen die boven zijn

Wat is ‘heil’ in onze tijd? Is het boven? Of juist beneden? In onze dagen zoeken kerken naar wegen om in een seculiere, immanente samenleving het Evangelie te vertolken. Dit boek zoekt mee en doet dat mede op basis van verricht onderzoek door de Christelijke Hogeschool Ede (CHE) rond missionaire presentie. Naast meer beschouwende artikelen staan praktijkverhalen. Wat ze delen is het geloof dat de christelijke boodschap onverminderd waardevol is en dat het de moeite loont intensief te zoeken naar verstaanbaarheid en verbinding. Het pdf-document bevat de inhoudsopgave en het eerste hoofdstuk.
